Privacy policy

Arms & Ammo Log is made by Alameda Enterprises LLC. The app doesn’t collect any information about you, and we don’t share or sell any. We only see what you choose to send us by email. This policy covers the app on Android and on iPhone; where the two work differently, it says so.

1. No internet access

On Android, the app doesn’t request the internet permission. On iPhone, it has no networking code at all. Either way, it can’t send anything off your phone by itself. You can see this on Android in Settings › Apps › Arms & Ammo Log, where data used stays at zero, and on iPhone in the App Privacy Report (Settings › Privacy & Security), which shows no network activity for the app. On both, the app works the same in airplane mode.

2. Your records stay on your phone

Ammo, history, range trips, firearms, serial numbers, photos and receipts are stored only on your device, encrypted with AES-256 using a key held in the phone’s secure key storage (Android’s Keystore, or the iPhone’s Keychain).

3. No cloud backup

Android’s automatic cloud backup and device-to-device transfer are switched off for this app, and on iPhone its files are kept out of iCloud backups. Data leaves the phone only in files you create: a password-locked backup, or a spreadsheet or report export you choose to save. You decide where each file goes. A backup is locked with a password you choose; we never see that file or its password, and we can’t open it or recover it for you. A spreadsheet or report isn’t encrypted, the app tells you so before you save one, and serial numbers are left out unless you switch them on.

4. No accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking

The app has no analytics, crash reporting service, advertising or tracking. Google Play Billing, which the app uses only for buying Pro, includes Google’s own diagnostic logging; because the app has no internet permission, it can’t send anything. On iPhone, the App Store’s privacy label for the app is “Data Not Collected”.

5. Purchases

Pro is bought through Google Play on Android, or the App Store on iPhone, which handles payment under Google’s or Apple’s own privacy policy. We never see your payment details. The app only asks the store whether you own Pro.

6. Crash reports and emailing us

If the app crashes, a technical report (a stack trace, without your records) is kept only on your phone. You can choose to copy it from About, in the app’s menu (☰), and email it to us yourself.

In the app’s menu (☰), About › Contact support opens your own email app with a message to us already started, holding the app version and your phone’s model. You see all of it and send it yourself; we only receive what you choose to send.

Email to our support and security addresses is forwarded by Cloudflare Email Routing to a mailbox hosted by Google. We keep your messages only as long as we need them to help you, and we delete them if you ask.

7. Photos and camera

Photos you add are copied into the app, re-encoded so location and camera details are removed, and encrypted. On Android, the app uses Android’s photo picker and camera app, so it never has access to your photo library or camera. On iPhone, it uses the iPhone’s photo picker, so it never has access to your photo library, and it asks once for the camera, which it uses only while you take a photo.

8. This website

www.armsandammolog.com is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles each request (including your IP address) to deliver the page. The site counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records the page, the site that linked to it, your browser type and how fast the page loaded, without cookies.

The site also uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use it. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and sends Google information about your visit: the pages you view, how you arrived, links you click and files you download, your browser and device type, and your approximate location, which Google works out from your IP address. Google processes this under its own privacy policy. We use the reports to improve the website; we don't sell this information or use it to show you ads. You can block these cookies in your browser settings or with Google’s opt-out add-on, and the site works the same without them.

This is the website only. The app has no analytics of any kind, and nothing you record in it ever reaches Google Analytics or us.
